The 28th Literary and Artistic Forum concluded in Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate, on 29 October 2026, with the announcement of results in poetry, short stories, theatre and singing, according to an Oman News Agency report republished by Asdaa newspaper. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth organised the forum from 25 to 29 October.
In classical Arabic poetry, Mohammed bin Saif Al Abri took first place in the over-34 category, while Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Shuaili won the 18–34 category. In short stories, Manar bint Mohammed Al Bartamani placed first in the younger category, while first place was withheld in the older category, according to the published results.
The ministry had stated in its programme announcement that the three literary competitions brought together 60 qualifiers, divided equally between the two age groups. It linked the competitions with literary readings, critical discussions and specialist workshops, alongside meetings for artists and writers.
The closing programme included poetry readings and a very short story exhibition. This follow-up records the results of an event that has already ended. Neither of the two sources reviewed provides a confirmed date for the next edition or a new call for participation.
