Al Jami team, affiliated with Al Bashair Club, organised a gathering for older residents in Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, on 30 October. Eighty older people took part, according to a report in Oman newspaper. The gathering was held in Harat Al Busaid as part of a programme intended to connect generations and introduce local heritage.
Activities included poetry, a traditional proverbs competition and conversations about the history of Adam and its neighbourhoods. The newspaper reported that participants recalled experiences from their lives and discussed the town’s social, economic and urban changes, alongside traditions of cooperation, mutual support and neighbourliness.
In separate coverage, Al Takween magazine reported that Ishraqat Adam Projects helped organise the gathering and that participants were honoured at its conclusion. The magazine described the event as a celebration of older people’s experience and place in the community, through activities recalling details of earlier life and sharing them among those present.
These activities highlight oral accounts as a focus for community gatherings. Neither report announced a date for another meeting or a published project to document those accounts.
